10 things I learned on my trip to the Keys

1. Don't run on a uneven dock--you will regret this.

2. Fishing by the dock is a frustrating and fruitless effort as dock fish have a PhD in human avoidance.

3. The reel of a fishing pole can suddenly fall off and hit you on the head while the boat is tackling rough waters...yes this happened to me.

4. Do not pack jeans...they occupy too much space and you will not use them.

5. Hawaiian Tropic sun block sucks...Copperton is totally the way to go!

6. Pandora on your phone is a gift while traveling...especially if it means serenading My Heart Will Go On to your best friend with the ocean as scenery.

7. Beach life makes for creative drink preparation...including the invention of new drinks like the Trouser Dropper (pineapple juice, Sprite, and coconut rum).

8. When sea turtles are out in the wild, they apparently look like muppets...this was really weird.

9. Fish like to wear lobster heads as masks...while they eat the lobster brains of course.

10. Sunsets on a boat in the Keys is an unforgettable sight.

Traveling Teens

I was so excited and amazed when I saw this website that I just had to share it. Teen Travel Talk is a website entirely dedicated to teens who travel to tell their stories.

I would have loved to travel at this age! I'm so glad there are teens out there who are benefitting from the expanded world view offered through travel and hope more teens (especially those who may not have parents that can finance it) have the opportunity to do so. Here's a blurb from the website:
Here you can read what other teenagers have to say about travel – from day trips to journeys abroad, shopping, eating, coasting, and other activities on vacation. Also, parents can read what teenagers like and dislike about family vacations and destinations so that they can plan a family trip that YOU will enjoy.

Teen Travel Talk is also interested in YOUR travel experiences. If you want to become a paid blogger and publish your travel stories on Teen Travel Talk, click “contact us” on the left hand side, fill out your contact information and tell us why you’d be a great teen travel blogger.

30 Days of Info Videos on Working, Living, and Teaching abroad by Charly

All of her videos are pretty awesome, but I think this series is particularly helpful.  For 30 days Charlie is giving advice and insight on what it’s like to live and teach abroad. Here’s one of the video from the series:
